A Florida woman treaded water for 13 hours after getting separated from her husband in the Gulf of Mexico.

Rescuers searched for Dora Steed after her husband's frantic 911 call. "I went back to where I thought we were and I cannot find her. Dora! Dora!"

Her husband, Larry Steed, kept calling his wife's name. The couple had been diving for scallops when their boat drifted as Hurricane Arthur slammed the sea last weekend.

Larry swam to the boat, but he couldn't find Dora. His wife survived in part because she improvised. "I searched everything and I saw at this point a PVC pipe sticking up out of the water. I just literally put my legs around the pole and my arms around the pole and just hung onto the pole," Dora said.

When the sun rose, Dora spotted a search boat and rescuers reunited her with her husband.
