First responders from local, state and federal agencies are helping those stranded by high water as Hurricane Florence batters the Southeast.

The Coast Guard has more than 3,000 members responding .Members of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 4 from Oakland, California, the Civilian Crisis Response Team and the North Carolina National Guard 105th Military Police Battalion from Asheville were also deployed to Fairfield Harbour for rescue operations.

Resident Tom Ballance called the rainfall "biblical," saying he's gotten reports from friends that his downtown seafood restaurant was flooded, just like the rest of the small city's historic downtown, and he's worried about the hundreds of people who needed to be rescued overnight in the city.
