1 arrested after chase, standoff on Hwy 101 in Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KGO) -- A standoff shut down all lanes of Hwy 101 in Santa Rosa just after 7 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators say 56-year-old Eric Van Gelder was arrested and will be charged with driving under the influence of drugs and resisting arrest.

The CHP says Van Gelder drove around a road closure then took officers on a chase. When they caught up to the car, Van Gelder refused to get out. They say SWAT officers used non-lethal options to remove him.

All lanes of 101 re-opened around 9:30 a.m.
