Officer Andrew Camilleri was honored by hundreds of fellow CHP officers at the Christian Life Church. Law enforcement agencies from as far away as Colorado and Texas attended the service.
"Officer Camilleri loved his job and took pride in helping a disabled motorist or catching speeders because Andrew liked driving fast," said CHP Captain Tim Pearson.
Camilleri was a rookie cop who graduated from the CHP Academy just eight months ago. He died in the line of duty on Christmas Eve when a suspected drunk driver hit the back of his SUV as he and his partner were on the side of the road on Interstate 880 near Highway 92.

That suspected drunk driver was later arrested.
Camilleri's partner Jonathan Velasquez was injured in the crash.
"Andrew I know you can hear me, it was an honor being your partner, rest in peace brother," said Velasquez.
Officer Camilleri is survived by his wife Rosanna and three children Elizabeth, Andrew Jr. and Ryder.
Acting CHP Commissioner Warren Stanley presented Mrs. Camilleri with her husband's badge.
