SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Mexican Consul General of San Francisco is inviting Donald Trump to the Bay Area next week to change his perception of the Mexican people.

Andres Roemer made the comment while promoting the upcoming MEX I AM festival.

The week-long event showcases Mexican scientists, sculptures, ballet dancers, opera singers and wine makers.

It's meant to showcase a part of Mexico that some like Trump may not always see. "Oh, he's more than invited. I would love that he comes because we are just bringing a sample of creativity, bringing the best of Mexico which is its people, its flavors, its colors, all around the world," Roemer said.

The MEX I AM festival begins Sunday, July 19 and runs until Sunday, July 26.
