OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- A new report reveals good and bad news for Oakland schools.
The bad news is half of third graders in the Oakland Unified School District read at a third grade level and just 34 percent of middle school students tested proficient in math.
The good news is that chronic absences and suspension rates improved last school year.
The report also revealed that more could be done to educate high school seniors about financial aid for college.
