SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Starting Saturday in San Francisco, you can put your Christmas trees out on the curb for collection.

Recology workers will pick up and process thousands of trees.

You can put your trees at the curb next to your recycling bin on your regular collection day so they can pick it up.

The trees will be chopped and eventually be turned into bio fuel.

This year, recology expects to recycle more than 500 tons of Christmas trees in San Francisco.

Curbside pickup continues through January 15.
