Bay Area army vet inspiration for new Marvel Comic superhero

U.S. army paratrooper, Retired Army Staff Sergeant Dan Nevins, who graduated from Sonoma State University, is the inspiration for the newest Marvel Comics superhero Flash Thompson.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A U.S. army paratrooper, who graduated from Sonoma State University, is the inspiration for the newest Marvel Comics superhero - Flash Thompson.



Retired Army Staff Sergeant Dan Nevins was serving in Iraq, when he lost both legs in an IED blast.



Thompson is a double amputee, who adjusts to life on a new set of prosthetic legs.



But the injury has not kept him from excelling in life. He's now a sales representative for Pfizer.



Nevins worked with Marvel on the series.
