2-year-old injured in Highway 80 shooting

PINOLE, Calif. -- A toddler was injured by broken glass in a drive-by shooting on Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported around 7:45 p.m. near the Fitzgerald Drive exit in Pinole.

Two adults and three children, under the age of 10, had been traveling east on Highway 80 when the vehicle was struck by at least one bullet. The driver exited the highway and parked at a gas station, according to the CHP.

The injured 2-year-old was treated at the scene.

At least one bullet hit the car. That bullet passed through the window of the back passenger door on the left side, it hit the driver's head rest and went out other window. After all five people in the car missed getting hit by the bullet, the CHP simply called it miraculous.

No one has been arrested and police do not have any description of the shooter, or shooters.

There have been at least four shootings on the same stretch of Highway 80 since November.
