East Bay parents warned about 'Assassins' game

LIVERMORE, Calif. (KGO) -- Parents of students at least two East Bay high schools are being warned about a game in which students pretend to kill one another.

Administrators at Monte Vista High School and San Ramon Valley High School in Danville sent letters to parents about a game called "Assassins."

Students, traditionally seniors, shoot each other with Nerf guns that are sometimes painted black to resemble real guns. Organizers assign the targets, and the last one standing wins.

Monte Vista High is working with police. They warn a student being chased could certainly dart into traffic, or that toy weapons could be mistaken for real ones.

In December, Livermore police said a high school senior accidentally crashed her car into a house while playing the game. They reportedly received 911 calls about reckless driving, prowlers, and armed people in the community.
