MEXICO CITY -- Newly released video shows a daring raid by Mexican police to recapture drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.
Video shows officials in military fatigues opening fire with high-powered guns and using smoke gas while raiding a home in Los Mochis on Friday.

Five people died in gun battle at the home located in the seaside city of Guzman's home state of Sinaloa.
Guzman is now back inside Mexico's highest security prison, the same one he managed to escape from six months ago as officials work to extradite him to the U.S.
The attorney general of Mexico said it could take up to a year to extradite El Chapo to the U.S.

New pictures obtained by Mexican newspaper El Universal, which they say they got from a Mexican intelligence file, show Mexican soap opera star Kate del Castillo first meeting with El Chapo's attorneys alone in August, then returning with actor Sean Penn in October.
El Universal also reports that the October meeting helped lead authorities to El Chapo's hideout and they launched a raid just days later, but Guzman escaped, injuring his leg in the process.
Penn questioned the drug lord for Rolling Stone magazine as El Chapo was trying to land a movie deal about his life by shopping the idea around to Hollywood producers and actors.

Mexican authorities said they were tracking Penn during his visits with El Chapo.
On the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday evening, celebrities said it's not uncommon for actors to have meetings in such a nature.
"I don't want to throw any other actors under the bus, but I know a lot of very, very serious actors and filmmakers who've been having meetings like this forever," actor Matt Damon said.
Penn also defended his interview with the drug lord, telling the Associated Press, he has nothing to hide.
