Fresno police release body-cam footage of fatal shooting of unarmed 19-year-oldFresno police released body-camera video of officers fatally shooting a 19-year-old man who ignored repeated commands to stand still and show his hands.

FRESNO, Calif. (KGO) -- New body cam video is out showing an unarmed white teenager being shot by police.

It's already prompting protest, and there are fears it could cause more unrest. This, as the teen's family plans to sue.

New body cam video shows Fresno police officers confronting an unarmed teenager, 19-year-old Dylan Noble.

"Get down on the ground, lay down," police said.

Noble never lays down. You hear officers telling Noble to get his hand out from behind his back.

"Drop whatever you have in your hands. You're going to get shot man," police said.

Then they fire two shots and two more when he is on the ground.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer has defended his officers saying they thought noble was reaching for a gun. The object turned out to be a piece of plastic with clay inside.

Noble's family members saw the body cam video last Friday. The family agreed it was not a good time to release it because of the shootings in Baton Rouge, Minn. and Dallas.

Instead, the body cam video just released last night, three weeks after Noble's death. Chief Dyer said FPD wanted the public to see a more complete picture of what happened.

"I promise you, I'm going to make the right decision. The right decision for the officers. The right decision for this community," Dyer said.

Dyer appealed for the community to stay calm following protests in Fresno and Clovis, including one yesterday involving more than 500 demonstrators. The district attorney is now reviewing the case.

One officer involved is a 20 year veteran and had never before shot a suspect. The second officer is a 17-year veteran involved in the shooting of an armed suspect in 2009.
