Members of the Muslim community said they were heartbroken by the devastation the fires caused and they wanted to help.

As one organizer put it, "as Muslims we believe God didn't say to love your Muslim neighbor. God said to love your neighbor."

Attendees enjoyed a traditional banquet while guest speakers addressed the crowd.

Congressmen Ro Khanna and Eric Swalwell were among them.

The goal was to raise $100,000.

Islamic Relief USA will distribute the money. The organization focuses on helping people who didn't have insurance or did not qualify for FEMA support.
