Wolff: A's close to signing lease to stay in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The Athletics are close to signing a new lease to keep them in Oakland for perhaps for the next decade.

The current lease at the Oakland Coliseum will run out after the 2015 season.

Owner Lew Wolff turned down a deal last month saying the proposal didn't meet all his requirements.

But on Bloomberg's Market Makers show on Wednesday, Wolff said he expects to have a new 10-year lease completed in the next few weeks.

"We're close enough on the deal points that we'll have the extension that we need," he said.

Wolff says he's still looking to build a new stadium.

He's been unsuccessful in getting major league baseball's approval to move to San Jose.

Wolff added there are no plans to move far away, "We want to stay in the Bay Area. We are not moving to Timbuktu."
