Pedestrian fatally struck on I-680 in Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) -- A pedestrian was fatally struck on Interstate 680 late Sunday night. The circumstances may be a cautionary tale for all drivers who encounter car trouble.

A woman was driving on southbound I-680 around 11 p.m. when her car broke down. Apparently she was out of her car trying to wave down some help when she was hit. The driver whose car hit her did stop and cooperate. Because they have to notify next of kin, authorities have not released any information about the victim.

All lanes have been reopened so the morning commute will not be impacted.
