SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Pet owners are on high alert after learning two cats were recently shot with arrows in San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood.

The most recent attack happened last week at the Willow Glen Creek condominium complex on Alma Avenue. Residents tell ABC7 News the cat is now recovering from surgery after being hit in the abdomen. Another cat was previously shot at in October, but survived the attack.

Capt. Jay Terrado from San Jose Animal Services says investigators continue to gather evidence and are working through any credible leads. ABC7 News was at the complex Tuesday afternoon as officers canvassed the area to interview neighbors.

Law enforcement officials are concerned about whether or not the person responsible for the attacks could end up hurting other animals and/or people.

Although the investigation is in its early stages, sources tell ABC7 News the arrows used in both attacks appear to have the same characteristics.
