SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in San Jose just after 8a.m. Sunday morning. Police say the suspect and stabbing victim are dead.

The incident happened at N. Autumn Street and Julian Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a man in the middle of the intersection, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Police say they spotted the suspect who was on scene and armed with a knife. The suspect did not comply with officers' commands to drop the knife.

The suspect reportedly advanced on the officers, and discharged their firearms in response.

Body cameras were used.

The officers were not injured.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office and the San Jose Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a joint criminal investigation.

San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia will speak at a press conference on Monday, May 4 at 1pm.
