VACAVILLE, Calif. (KGO) -- Three people died in a head-on collision on state Route 113 east of Vacaville Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 6:35 a.m., CHP officers were sent to Route 113 just north of Hay Road in Solano County in response to reports about a multi-vehicle collision.

When they got to the scene, officers learned that a red GMC pickup truck was allegedly speeding and passing other vehicles when it crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head on with a gray Ram pickup, after possibly sideswiping other vehicles, CHP officials said.
The GMC driver and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, as was the driver of the Ram.
Route 113 was closed in both directions near the collision during the investigation and was reopened to traffic at about 10:15 a.m.
