Helicopter crashes near site of deadly Los Angeles bus collision; at least 1 dead

LOS ANGELES, California -- A helicopter crashed and burst into flames in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, sending a thick plume of black smoke into the air.

The crash occurred near the scene of a large bus crash that left at least two people dead.

Authorities have not said what caused the helicopter to crash.

At least one person died in the crash. The Los Angeles Fire Department said a pedestrian on the ground outside of the helicopter was killed.

It's unclear how many people were on the helicopter, and if anyone from the helicopter was taken to the hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
