Investigation underway after reported police shooting in San Jose neighborhood

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Emergency crews are on the scene of a reported police shooting near Tamien Park in San Jose Tuesday evening.

A source tells ABC7 Eyewitness News an officer and a suspect are both seriously injured.

Heavy police presence is centered near Lick Avenue and Goodyear Street.

A SWAT team and Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies are actively assisting San Jose police.

Mayor Matt Mahan's team tells ABC7 Eyewitness News he is on the way to the hospital.

The scene remains active as the investigation continues.

Officials are asking everyone to avoid the area.
