Robert Carradine is lucky to be alive after being involved in a car wreck in Colorado.

The "Revenge of the Nerds" star had been driving with his wife Edith a week ago on Highway 145 near Dolores, Colo., when Carradine's car drove into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a semi-truck, USA Today reports.

Police say had couple not been wearing their seatbelts, the crash would have been fatal.

"The fact that they were wearing seatbelts is why they are with us today," Sgt. James Saunders told The Cortez Journal.

The Durango Herald tweeted out a picture of Carradine's car following the wreck.

Carradine and his wife were transported to a hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. It is still unclear why the crash happened, but Saunders said alcohol nor speed were a factor.

Carradine is best known for his geekish fratboy in 1984's "Revenge of the Nerds," and currently hosts the TV game show "King of the Nerds." Carradine also starred as the lovable family patriarch in Disney Channel's hit series "Lizzie McGuire."
