SAN FRANCISCO -- A firefighter suffered a sprained ankle while battling a blaze in the basement of a building in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood Tuesday morning, a fire dispatcher said.



The one-alarm fire was reported at 6:38 a.m. at a pizza shop on 407 Ellis Street.



Firefighters extinguished the blaze nearly an hour later at 7:34 a.m.



The evacuation order was lifted and people were allowed to go back into the apartment.



The cause of the fire is under investigation, the dispatcher said.
