SAN FRANCISCO -- An event at San Francisco city hall may have something for those searching for a way out of political tension and into peace and love.

The bottom level of the building holds a photo exhibit called "Summer of Love."

It's the 50th anniversary of the fabled summer when hippies and war protesters took over the city.

The display shows 80 pictures taken by famed rock and roll photographer Jim Marshall. They show artists like Jimmy Hendricks, the Grateful Dead and showcase other figures from the counter-culture movement.

"Jim was in with all kinds of different crowds," said Meg Shiffler of the San Francisco Arts Commission. "In with the music scene, in with the Hells Angels, in with the hippies on Haight Street."
