San Jose neighborhood on edge after couple found slain in home

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose residents in the Evergreen neighborhood remain stunned after a husband and wife were found dead inside their family home.

Investigators are now trying to find the couple's oldest son, who police say hasn't been seen in days.

Police have said very little about this case in the past 24 hours, saying that they do not want to compromise the investigation. But neighbors say they won't be able to rest, until the killer is caught.

There was Heartbreak and horror inside this home on Lucas Court. Residents who live nearby say it's a lot to process.

"It's just a feeling of uncertainty, and fear, until the culprit is caught," said San Jose resident Chris Tran.

The search continues for the person responsible for killing Golam and Shamima Rabbi.

Family members made the discovery on Sunday when they stopped by to check on the couple after not hearing from them.

Sources say that whoever saw them last before their deaths, wrote disturbing messages on a wall and the floor inside.

"Really nerve-wracking you know, because you don't know the kind of person you're dealing with," Tran said.

San Jose police believe this wasn't a random act of violence. The husband and wife, parents to two sons, were found dead in different parts of the home.

Their younger son who attends Evergreen Valley High School is currently in protective custody, but their older son, a college student, hasn't been seen since the start of the weekend.

Neighbors hope surveillance video will help police with their investigation.

"It's an uneasy feeling for the whole neighborhood. I see a lot less people walking around in the neighborhood these days, ever since it happened over the weekend," Tran said.

Meanwhile, students and alumni at Evergreen Valley are offering their support and condolences.

But now, officials with the Evergreen Islamic Center of San Jose say they're worried about the victims' Muslim funerals being delayed.

Under California law, the bodies of the couple must be released to their oldest son, but because he hasn't turned up, the coroner will have to wait another week before allowing other family members to take possession.
