SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- United Airlines has announced it will waive change fees while a runway is shut down at SFO.
The airport will close one of its runways next Saturday for repair work. It is expected to be shut down until September 27. The airport is warning of delays and possible cancellations. United is making this offer to help passengers who don't want to deal with the inconvenience.
"Well that's good I guess. At least they're accommodating," said Jordan Newcome, a consultant who travels two to three times a week for business.

She says she might look at other airports during the shutdown.
"Maybe Oakland. Oakland is close by. It depends on where I am going I guess," she said.
Allbright Kim was flying out of SFO this morning for a two week-long trip to New York and Toronto. He is now thinking about changing his return trip.
"I might divert to Oakland or go as far as San Jose because SFO is already notorious for delays. I have experienced it a lot. If they have runways that are closing, I can't even imagine what that is going to be like," he said.
Kim planned to email his company about the runway closure right after our interview so his co-workers can adjust September's travel plans.
The runway needs a new concrete base because of wear and tear. Officials say they deal with potholes 6 to 8 times a year.
If you are flying out of SFO during the closure, officials suggest early morning flights. They predict the delays will start after 9 a.m.
The airport says the project will cost about $16 million and is federally funded.
