OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Students at Oakland Unified School District made a statement this week against police brutality.

Some members of the OUSD Honor Band took a knee Tuesday night while playing the national anthem at an Oakland Athletics game.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, the school district says the students were making a statement of solidarity and that "OUSD is proud of our thoughtful and courageous students. #iamOUSD"
