DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- US Army First Lieutenant Alex Keller had not been home to see his mom in more than two years because of moving, his deployment, and the pandemic.
He told his mom Susan not to expect him home until February. Meanwhile, Alex called his mom's work, Lake Tract Elementary School, to help him plan a surprise.
Susan works at the school as a special education teacher. She thought she was gathering the kids outside for an assembly about a food drive.
Instead, a group of students lead Alex outside with flags and balloons and he ran to hug his mom, who was shocked by her son's sweet surprise.
