Original 'Star Wars' trilogy to return to select theaters this summer

If a new Star Wars movie this December wasn't enough to excite fans of the sci-fi saga, they'll also have the opportunity to watch the original trilogy at theaters this summer.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will be sponsoring screenings of the original Star Wars trilogy at select theaters across the country this summer, according to Entertainment Weekly. New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Houston are among the cities where fans will be able to watch the original Star Wars films back-to-back, where each screening will be a unique and fun intergalactic event.

"It's always been a dream to show the original Star Wars trilogy again - somehow, someway," Alamo Drafthouse's VP of Special Events, Henri Mazza, told Entertainment Weekly. "Seeing the original trilogy on the big screen for the first time is a real life-altering event and just a supreme amount of fun. When the films became available to book for screenings like these, we jumped at the chance to do something big."

Tickets for the screenings will go on sale on May 4. The latest film in the saga, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, hits theaters on December 16.
