Uber drivers are covered even after they drop you off. Tech news website Engadget reports the ride sharing company made a deal with insurer MetroMile.
It will offer full coverage during the times drivers are in-between fares.
Previously, Uber gave drivers commercial liability coverage when passengers were in the car, but required drivers to use private insurance between fares.
Engadget says state regulators still need to approve the deal, but California is already on board.
