Researchers at Florida Atlantic University came up with an unusual test to study endurance and hatchling disorientation in turtles by putting them on a treadmill.
After they hatch, turtles usually make it to the ocean in a mad dash that takes just a few minutes.

However, researchers wanted to see what happened when they become disoriented. They found out city lighting can lead them in the wrong direction.
Researchers expected to find disoriented turtles more exhausted from their crawl and less able to swim, but results showed turtles are actually good at gauging their own reserves and take frequent rests.
