NEW YORK (KGO) -- Before ringing in the new year, you probably want to get rid of any bad memories from this year.

And what better way to do that than with an industrial-size shredder!

People packed New York's Times Square this weekend for the city's 8th annual Good Riddance Day.

The shred truck gave them the chance to pulverize everything from pictures of an ex to pink slips.

Those who didn't bring something to shred got to write down on a piece of paper what they'd like to destroy.

Some wrote things like stress, poverty and debt.
