San Jose's Century domed theaters to close

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Unless the California Historical Resources Commission steps in, this is the final weekend for movies at San Jose's Century Retro Dome theaters.

The property owner is ready to sell it but several residents are still trying to save their beloved domed theaters.

Last month the San Jose City Council decided not to keep the 1960's domed theater near the Winchester Mystery House as a historic site.

The theaters will remain vacant until their fate is decided.

The final showing at the Century 21 is "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" at 7 p.m. Sunday. It's a farewell to Century 21 as well as Century 22 and Century 23.
