SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A bill working its way through the California legislature would add more baby changing tables to men's restrooms.

There is no law requiring businesses to install changing tables, and this measure doesn't demand it either. It simply says, if a table is being installed or upgraded in a women's room, the facility must add one to the men's room as well.

"The modern family continues to evolve," state Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, said. "You have same-sex households, you have single parents, you have just a dad who wants be involved in the rearing of their children. And this bill makes sense."

As for expenses, Lara estimates the changing tables cost businesses between $60 and $300.
