Anti-body shaming post goes viral
A woman's post on social media about an incident in a store over a tank top is going viral

Rachel Taylor says she was shopping at Old Navy when she overheard a hurtful conversation between a mother and daughter about plus-sized clothing. Taylor took a selfie to prove she looks fabulous in the tank, and her powerful message has gone viral.

The 25-year-old photographer was shopping with her husband on July 3 when a teenager spotted an American flag-inspired plus-sized tank top, she told Good Morning America.

"A teenage girl picked up a tank top off a rack and held it up against her, and she said, 'Look, mom, me and so-and-so could both fit in this tank top.' And they laughed," Taylor said. "She set the shirt down, and I started crying."

Taylor then ran to her car crying, she said. Her husband was indignant.

"It makes me angry," he said. "I wish people could understand how it makes other people feel when they say things like that."

With her husband's encouragement, Taylor dried her tears and marched back into the store to prove a point and try on the top. It turns out, she said, she looked great in it. So she bought it and wore it for July 4.

Then she took to Facebook to write about the experience. Her message?

"Be kind. Think about others before you speak," she wrote.

After Taylor shared it to Old Navy's Facebook page, it went viral. More than 250,000 people have shared it in just a few days. Taylor was bombarded with encouraging responses, including one from the company.

"Rachel, you are amazing," the Old Navy Facebook page commented. "We want to celebrate your fierce style by sending you a gift card."

Now Taylor has a message for anyone who thinks words shouldn't hurt.

"That doesn't mean that you're weak. It doesn't mean that you're a crybaby. It means that you're human."
