LOS ANGELES (KGO) -- Nine people are under arrest after nearly 1,000 law enforcement officers raided the Fashion District in Los Angeles.

Federal authorities called the bust "Operation Fashion Police." It's part of a larger investigation into money laundering schemes linked to Mexican and other international drug cartels.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said officers seized roughly $90 million.

Mexico tightened financial regulations several years ago.

Investigators said since then, cartels have turned to international trade, like the fashion industry, to launder and smuggle drug money.
