Maker Faire kicks off this weekend in San Mateo

SAN MATEO, Calif. (KGO) -- When the poofs of pyrotechnics and the grinding of gears echo through the streets of San Mateo -- it must be time for Maker Faire. This year's event for do-it-yourselfers is the biggest ever.

And this year, it's so big, it's taken over the parking lot. Meaning people planning on attending should take public transit to get there. Watch the video above for Jonathan Bloom's full report.
