A 12-year-old basketball fan is back home, just in time to cheer on his Warriors in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Jacob Soriano was stabbed on Monday during a bank robbery in San Leandro.

He and his mother Paula spoke with ABC7 News about the ordeal.

"The wounds were deep," Paula said. "Thankfully it didn't organs or nerves. They did do reconstructive surgery on him."

Jacob added, "A lot of people have reached out to me and I want to thank them for everything," he said.

Jacob was sitting in the lobby at the Wells Fargo, waiting for a relative, when police say a woman began robbing customers and suddenly stabbed Jacob three times in the back.

The knife stopped short of puncturing his lung.

Oakland resident Iyona Hammond, 32, was arrested while trying to flee the bank. She appeared in court Wednesday on charges of attempted murder and robbery.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help pay for Jacob's medical bills, click here for more information.
