Crews prepare amid flooding concerns in Santa Cruz Mountains
The next 24 hours will determine whether the rain storms will trigger flooding and mudslides in the Loma Fire burn zone in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) -- The next 24 hours will determine whether the rain storms will trigger flooding and mudslides in the Loma Fire burn zone in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

The fire burned acres of vegetation that normally would help absorb the rainfall.

Casa Loma volunteer firefighter Janna Garner-Smith says the rain that's coming will help address this, but the big concern shifts now to potential flooding and mudslides.
