They anticipate Dungeness crab will be ready to sell by the end of next month.

The department is also reminding fishermen to start checking their safety equipment.

The Coast Guard will be inspecting crab fishing vessels in two weeks with the first day of fishing set for Nov. 15.

Last year, crab season was delayed because of high levels of toxic acid in the fish.
