About 270,000 cars cross the Bay Bridge each day and Monday morning a message went up, aimed at drivers and their passengers.

This is the third year activists have hung a banner above the Yerba Buena tunnel -- to draw attention to the Armenian Genocide where 1.5 million Armenians died in the final days of the Ottoman Empire.

Turkey denies there was a genocide, and the U.S. refuses to use the term to describe the massacre which took place between 1915 and 1920.

The U.S. has said 1.5 million Armenians were deported and killed, but has not declared that massacre a genocide.

Activists say the location for the banner is the perfect place to build a bridge of awareness.
