Construction begins on luxury hotel at SFO
Sleeping at the airport is no fun, but soon travelers who need to spend the night at SFO can do so in a luxury hotel.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KGO) -- Sleeping at the airport is no fun, but soon travelers who need to spend the night at SFO can do so in a luxury hotel.

A ceremonial groundbreaking was held for a new 351-room Grand Hyatt hotel located directly at the airport.

Mayor Ed Lee joined other city dignitaries to mark the start of construction.

The hotel will be located near Concourse A of the international terminal and includes all the bells and whistles you'd expect of a luxurious home away from home.

"Providing our customers with that level of convenience, that passenger experience, the service that they're known for and such innovation, so it's a perfect match with Hyatt and SFO," SFO Airport Director Ivar Satero said.

Many of the rooms will feature breathtaking views of the SFO airfield. All will be insulated to muffle the noise from the planes.

The hotel is set to open in the summer of 2019.
