A small wildfire broke out seconds after a car went out of control and crashed in Martinez. It happened just before 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon along eastbound Highway 4 near the Glacier Road overpass.

MARTINEZ, Calif. (KGO) -- A small wildfire broke out seconds after a car went out of control and crashed in Martinez.

It happened just before 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon along eastbound Highway 4 near the Glacier Road overpass.

A police officer fought the flames using a large fire extinguisher. Firefighters arrived moments later and attacked the inferno with water.

They had it under control within a few minutes.
