SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A call is being made to untangle a notorious section of San Francisco roads known by some as 'The Hairball.'

San Francisco Supervisor Hillary Ronen says something needs to be done about the web of freeway arteries that interlock over Cesar Chavez Street, Potrero Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard.

Ronen calls the area a mess, and would like a chunk of the freeway underground, but such a plan would be expensive.

So far, Ronen has persuaded her colleagues to set aside$ 220,000 to start what could be a 25-year freeway redesign process.
