An 80-year-old man is dead after police said he was murdered in his Oakland hills home late Friday night. Relatives say the victim's son has been arrested for the crime.

Police say the victim, identified by family members as Ernest Clark, suffered major trauma to the head during the beating in his Upper Rockridge home. His daughter was also injured in the incident and was treated at a hospital and released.

Oakland Police later arrested a suspect. Relatives confirm the victim's son is in custody.

Neighbors say Clark was a longtime realtor in the East Bay and a wonderful person.

"He was always smiling, just a great guy. He was always looking out for people and loved watching the Warriors on TV, " said neighbor Damien Park.

The name of the suspect has not been released. Police say a motive for the crime isn't known.

An investigation is underway, and anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at (510) 238-3821 or the tip line at (510) 238-7950.
