5 Stories You May Have Missed This Weekend

If you spent your weekend following the Israeli ground invasion in Gaza or the investigation of Malaysian Airlines flight MH 17 in Ukraine, here are five stories you may have overlooked.

1. NYPD Cop's Chokehold May Not Have Caused Serious Injury to Man's Throat

The preliminary results of the autopsy of Eric Garner, who died after a New York City police officer put him in a chokehold, suggests that Garner had little damage to his neck and trachea, a law enforcement source said.

The police officer, Daniel Pantaleo, has been stripped of his badge and gun and is awaiting the outcome of an investigation by the district attorney's office and Internal Affairs.

2. Iraq Vet Cited for Owning 14 Therapeutic Pet Ducks

Darin Welker, an Iraq War veteran who injured his back in combat, is worried a citation will make him give up his 14 pet ducks, which he says are therapeutic.

Welker says that the ducks help him with depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Welker is due in an Ohio court this Wednesday and faces a $150 fine.

3. US Military Once Planned to Build Surveillance System on the Moon

Declassified documents released on Sunday revealed the U.S. military's out-of-this-world plans to build a surveillance system on the moon.

The documents, which date back to 1959, detail plans to build a manned station on the moon that would have functioned as an intelligence and military base.

Code-named "Project Horizon," the plan never got off the ground.

4. Blue-Colored Red King Crab and 18-Pound Lobster Make Rare Appearances

This week saw the appearances of two extremely rare animals: a blue-colored red king crab off the coast of Alaska and an 18-pound lobster off the coast of Massachusetts.

It is extremely unusual for red king crabs to be any color other than, well, red. The blue version of the crabs turn up "once in a blue moon," Scott Kent of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in Nome said.

The blue red king crab has been taken for mounting, according to its owner Frank McFarland.

The 18-pound lobster has a more promising future. It's owner, Joby Norton of Scituate, Mass., released the animal back into the sea.

5. Prince George Walks in Photo to Commemorate First Birthday

In the days before Prince George Alexander Louis will celebrate his first birthday, Kensington Palace released this adorable photo of the little prince walking.

The photo was taken at the Sensational Butterflies exhibit at the Natural History Museum in early July by Press Association staff photographer John Stillwell.

Prince George will turn one on July 22.
