7-hour manhunt ends in arrests in Sunnyvale
A massive, seven-hour manhunt for two suspected carjackers came to an end just before sunrise on in Sunnyvale.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (KGO) -- A massive, seven-hour manhunt for two suspected carjackers came to an end just before sunrise on Thursday in Sunnyvale.

The two men, believed to be in the early 20s, were captured around 6:50 a.m., hiding in a garage just off of South Bernardo Avenue in a small private condo community of Blackberry Terrace.

"For sure, it's scary. There's usually not a lot going on here. It's definitely a little unsettling," said resident Chun Chen.

The two suspects ended up in this neighborhood after police say they carjacked a man near the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose.

Police spotted them driving the Cadillac Escalade in Willow Glen, leading them on a high speed chase on 280 to 85 before getting off on Fremont Avenue and into Sunnyvale.

They hit a dead end on West Remington Way next to Stevens Creek and Highway 85.

They ditched the car and ran off, leaving behind a handgun on the ground and a pellet gun in the escalade.

Police set up a huge perimeter in Los Altos and Sunnyvale.

At around 5:30 a.m., a man was spotted nearby jumping fences off South Bernardo Avenue in Blackberry Terrace.

"I heard a loud noise in the middle of the night and the dogs started barking. And that was peculiar," said Doris Keats, who lives in Blackberry Terrace.

Resident Pradep Kumar said, "It looks like he jumped over my back yard and ran over it somewhere else."

The men were found in a garage at a home on Blackberry Terrace. Two police dogs were sent in.

Medical personnel were brought in to treat both carjacking suspects for dog bites after they were arrested.
