SAN BRUNO, Calif. (KGO) -- Harry Potter, with the help of Batman, put a freeze spell on "Bruno the Bandit!" It was all part of a traveling skit sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

On Saturday, Nicco and Cole took a break from fighting cancer to instead fight crime.

The two spent the day running around San Bruno, battling the villain, and eventually saving the princesses as the community rallied and cheered around them.

"I'm hoping to accomplish two things," said Peter Johnson, who played the "Bruno the Bandit Villain. "One, I'd like to make the kids have an absolutely spectacular day where all they think about is being superhuman and superheroes. And number two, is to create a little bit of awareness for the Relay for Life, which raises money to fight and to prevent and cure cancer."

Saturday's skit was modeled on last year's Batkid' celebration in San Francisco, which was sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

City officials say the event was meant to allow the boys to play out a dream, acknowledge the efforts and demands on their families, and to honor all cancer survivors and caregivers.

San Bruno's Relay for Life takes place on Saturday April 26 at Capuchino High School.

It's a fundraiser featuring teams of runners who jog in relays for 24-hours around a track at a local high school.
