LARKSPUR, Calif. (KGO) -- A Bay Area honor student from Tiburon is accused of rape after an alleged rampage through a dorm at Boston University.

The case seems inconceivable to those who know Samson Donick. If it's true, it's the story of a bright young man and star athlete who lived in a house in Tiburon gone bad.

Donick an honor student and basketball player formerly at MIT pleaded not guilty to the charges in Boston Wednesday morning.

He faces charges of rape, breaking and entering, intent to commit burglary and indecent assault and battery.

"I was one of the people who he came into my room," witness Nour Fawaz said.

Boston police said they have been trying to identify Donick since last October, when witnesses say he entered 10 dorm rooms at Boston University before sexually assaulting a woman.

The victim said she wrapped herself in a blanket and that he ran from the room.

Others in the dorm said they have yet to recover. "I am kind of afraid to sleep at night," one woman said.

Donick graduated from Redwood High School in Marin County. There was no comment from teachers, students or administration, but records show him to have been a brilliant student.

Back at his Tiburon neighborhood on Wednesday, those who know Donick said he is a great kid. They cannot imagine this happening.

But in a Boston court, it became very real. The judge banned Donick from going anywhere near the Boston University campus.

Donick's lawyer said it will be a difficult case for the state to prove, even with surveillance video.

Donick was released on $10,000 bail.
