CAMPBELL, Calif. (KGO) -- Police have dropped the charges against a transient who had been accused in the stabbing death of 16-year-old Ivan Diaz of San Jose.

That stabbing took place after a fight on Sunday at John D. Morgan Park in Campbell. Todd Tharp had been booked in Santa Clara County Jail for the murder, but Tharp has maintained he was defending himself.

Today, Santa Clara County officials say Tharp has been released from custody, and no complaint has been filed with the court.
