Crash downs power lines, closes road in Newark

HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Newark Police Department is asking drivers to avoid the area of Newark Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue for the next two hours this morning due to a traffic crash with downed power lines.

Police said both directions of Newark Boulevard are currently shut down while PG&E crews work to clear the lines so the vehicles involved in the crash can be removed from the scene.

The Alameda County Fire Department has also responded to the scene.
